Ohio Wesleyan University Slocum Library-Hall - Delaware, Ohio

 Ohio Wesleyan University Slocum Library-Hall in Delaware, Ohio. Built in 1898. The building's architect, S. R. Badgley, reputedly visited various college libraries in the east before incorporating their best features in Slocum Hall. In addition to class rooms and seminary space, the building features a large elliptical reading room with a stained glass skylight and balcony above. The limestone exterior of Slocum was executed in the Renaissance Revival style. The building served as the library till 1966. Ohio Wesleyan University Hall-Gray's Chapel - Delaware, Ohio.

 Ohio Wesleyan University Hall-Gray's Chapel in Delaware, Ohio. The Hall was built in 1893, to serve as Ohio Wesleyan's primary administration building and lecture hall. In addition to offices and lecture rooms, University Hall featured the 2500-seat Gray Chapel, donated by David S. Gray in honor of his father, a pioneer Methodist preacher in Ohio. Present at the dedication were Ohio Governor William McKinley, and ex-President Rutherford B. Hayes. University Hall is an excellent example of Richardsonian Romanesque architecture. St. Mary's Catholic Church and Rectory - Delaware, Ohio

 St. Mary's Catholic Church and Rectory in Delaware, Ohio. Built in 1886-1888, interior completed in 1906. The Church remains virtually unaltered from the original appearance. The rectory is located immediately east of the church. Designed by Adolphus Druiding from Chicago, the church is a Gothic Revival structure. Contractor was Bourner & Phillips out of Newark. Ohio Wesleyan University Student Observatory - Delaware, Ohio

Ohio Wesleyan University Student Observatory in Delaware, Ohio. Built in 1896, the on-campus observatory was funded by Hiram M. Perkins, professor of mathematics and astronomy; his wife, Caroline Barkdull Perkins; and his sister, Sarah P. Howard. The student observatory originally was called “Perkins Astronomical Observatory,” but it was renamed the “Student Observatory” after the second, larger Perkins Observatory was built south of Delaware in 1923-1924. The Student Observatory telescope boasted a 9 ½ inch refracting lens, which was unusual for college observatories at that time, and was built by a leading manufacturer of such instruments, Warner & Swasey in Cleveland. The observatory designed by Canadian-born architect Sidney Rose Badgley. Architectural Style-Classical Revival.  Posted to the National Register of Historic Places on March 18, 1985. Delaware Carnegie Public Library - Delaware, Ohio

Delaware Carnegie Public Library in Delaware, Ohio. The building was funded by Andrew Carnegie and built in the neoclassical style. Built in 1904-1906 and was opened to the public in 1906. The library was designed by John Marriott of Delaware, and the contractor was E. W. Hart from Columbus at a cost of $21,500 which was paid in full by Andrew Carnegie. The structure originally consisted of a main hall and two wings, as well as an attic and a basement. The library originally had an area of approximately 8,000 square feet. The library's collection of books and volumes rapidly expanded during its operational history. By the 1970s, the Delaware Public Library started to run out of space. In 1984, a new public library was constructed. Shortly after that time, the original library was greatly renovated and was turned into the County Commissioners' office.
