Jacob H.W. Mumma house in Dayton, Ohio built ca.1840. Jacob was born 1792 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Four years later the family moved to Frederick County, Maryland. He pursued the weaver's trade for the next thirty years. In 1827 he brought his wife and eight children to Dayton, Ohio. Shortly after he purchased fifty-three acres of farmland north of the city. A few years later, he made bricks on the property and built this house. Architectural Style - Federal with ornamented, graceful Italianate style detailing.
