Deerwood Farm is a significant example of an early Ohio farm house in the rustic Federal style. No exact date of construction can be established; however, the architectural evidence strongly suggests a time near the earliest property date sometime around 1813. The original house is rectangular with a two story house with a one story kitchen wing. There have been additions to the rear of the house from 1880 through 1937. On the farm's property, there is a barn of twentieth century construction, which is located approximately 300-350' to the south/southeast on the top of the opposite creek embankment. History of Montgomery County lists Benjamin Hutchins and wife with large family arriving in Butler Township in the first decade of the nineteenth century and puts him on the land eventually patented in 1812, but it does not specify the date when the family arrived. Isaac Hutchins, son of Benjamin, owned the property from 1850 until his death in 1895. Posted to the National Register of Historic Places on November 12, 1975. GPS: 39.85210°N, -84.22713°W.
