Dr. Adam Mosgrove House - Urbana, Ohio






 The Dr. Adam Mosgrove House is a historic house in Urbana, Ohio. It was built in 1833 as the home of physician Adam Mosgrove, one of Urbana's first doctors. A native of Enniskillen in Ireland, In August 1796, he attended lectures in the Medical College of Edinburgh, and graduated from the Royal College of Surgery, in Dublin in April 1814. Dr. Mosgrove was at one time commissioned as a surgeon in the British Navy; sailing for America in 1816. After landing in Philadelphia, he decided to stay and practice medicine. He was first located in Lancaster, then the next year moved to Elizabethtown, Ohio, where he married Mary Miller, sister of Lawrence Miller of Urbana. Learning in 1818 that a former resident of Enniskillen was living in Urbana, Mosgrove and his wife moved to Urbana. Architectural Style-Federal/Greek Revival.
